Lord Shiva is well-known by the name of Rudra. It is one of the 108 names of Lord Shiva, meaning “tempest”. In Rudra form, Lord Shiva is fierce, is the destructor of evil and paves the path for new creation. Abhishek literally means “wetting” or “spraying”. It signifies the auspicious bathing of a deity. Rudra Abhishek implies the holy bath with water, milk, ghee, yogurt, honey and Panchamrit (The Panchamrit mixture comprises five elements namely, milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and jaggery).
Rudrabhishek invokes Lord Shiva by chanting hymns and a special Pooja where Lord Rudra is worshiped in the form of lingam. Amma Sri Karunamayi extols the power of Rudrabhishekam and encourages devotees to include it in their sadhana, spiritual practices.

Sravana Masam
August 13th 2026 , September 11th 2026 @ 10 AM
According to Vedas, Sravana Masam is described as Nabhas – it means shravan nakshatra takes total control by appearing in the sky. Sravana Masam is the fifth and holiest month of the Hindu lunar calendar. It is highly auspicious for spiritual growth as it is dedicated to Lord Shiva, Lord Vishnu, and Goddess Lakshmi.
Mythological Significance
Lord Shiva:
The Gods (Devas) and demons (Asuras) temporarily united to churn the cosmic ocean to retrieve the Amrita (nectar of immortality) to regain their lost power and divinity.
The churning rod was Mount Mandara, and the churning rope was Vasuki, the King of Serpents. As the churning began, Vasuki emitted a highly toxic poison called Halahala, capable of destroying the universe. To save creation, Lord Shiva consumed the poison.
Lord Vishnu & Goddess Lakshmi: The Sravana Nakshatra (star) is associated with Lord Vishnu. The month is considered an ideal time to pray to Goddess Lakshmi to remove obstacles, poverty, and seek spiritual and financial wealth.
Festivals celebrated in Sravana month:
- Naga Panchami – it is the auspicious day when people offer milk to snakes.
- Varalakshmi Vrata – the prominent ritual celebrated by married women in South India and Maharashtra is varalakshmi pooja. It is performed on the Friday that falls before Pournami in Sravan month.
- Raksha Bandhan – one of the biggest festivals performed in Sravan Masam is rakhi, also called raksha bandan. It is the day which honours the bond between a brother and sister. According to the Hindu calendar, it is observed on full moon day (Sravana Purnima).
- Krishna Janmashtami – it is one of the major Hindu festivals which marks Lord Krishna’s birth anniversary.

Samputita Sri Suktam sung by Amma:
Samputita Sri Suktam is an ancient, potent Vedic chanting practice where the traditional Sri Suktam (a hymn for wealth and abundance) is enclosed (“samputita”) within specific hymns of Durga and Mahalakshmi.

- Business success – believed to clear obstacles in the workplace, making it a highly favored hymn for entrepreneurs and traders
- Eradication of “A-Lakshmi” – chanting destroys Jyeshtha Lakshmi (the elder sister of Lakshmi, who governs grief, delay, and misfortune), clearing the path for success
- Deep protection and obstacle removal
- Negative energy cleansing – the enclosure of the hymn creates strong protective vibrations that destroy negativity, evil forces, and blockages
- Karmic purification – the sound frequencies dissolve karmic blockages and the malefic effects of astrological doshas
