Rudraabhishekam

Mondays – November 9, 16, 23, 30 @ 6.30 PM Rudraabhishekam to Shiva Lingam

Rudra abhishekam invokes Lord Shiva by chanting Vedic hymns and offering special pooja, worshiping Lord Rudra in the form of a lingam. Amma Sri Karunamayi extols the power of Rudraabhishekam and encourages devotees to include it in their sadhana – spiritual practices.

Lord Shiva is well known as Rudra; it is one of His 108 names, meaning “tempest”. In Rudra form, Lord Shiva is fierce and is the destroyer. He destroys evil and paves the path for new creation. Abhishek literally means “wetting” or “spraying”. It signifies the auspicious bathing of a deity. Rudra Abhishek is a holy bath with water, milk, ghee, yogurt, honey, and Panchamrit (the Panchamrit mixture comprises five elements: milk, yogurt, ghee, honey, and jaggery).

Benefits:

Protects one from negative energies, curses, and evil eye

Helps one to break free from past karma

Removes doshas from one’s horoscope

Frees oneself from past sins; promotes spiritual growth

Fulfills the wishes of the one who sincerely prays for something
